FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! The VST3 plugin works with Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One, Reaper, and any DAW supporting VST3. Logic Pro users can use the AU (Audio Unit) plugin.
It depends on which AI you use. OpenAI GPT and Google Gemini require internet. For offline generation, use Local Llama via Ollama - it runs 100% locally on your machine. The 8 built-in algorithms (Markov, Shuffle, Acid, etc.) always work offline.
The trial has no time limit! Test NoteWarp as long as you want with full functionality. The only difference: a license reminder appears periodically until you purchase.
Yes! Install NoteWarp on all your personal computers - studio desktop, laptop, home and work machines. One license, unlimited personal installations.
NoteWarp sends MIDI to NoteWarpReceiver plugins on other tracks. Add NoteWarpReceiver as a MIDI effect on any instrument track, and NoteWarp can route variations directly there. This lets you compare the same variation on different instruments or layer multiple variations.
Algorithms use music theory rules - they're fast, predictable, and work offline. Great for quick variations like shuffling notes or generating acid basslines.

AI generation uses language models (GPT, Gemini, Llama) that understand musical context. They can create more creative and unexpected variations, especially when you provide custom prompts describing the style you want.

Right-click the DMG file and select "Open", then right-click the installer inside and select "Open". This bypasses Gatekeeper for apps from unidentified developers. You may need to enter your admin password.
Windows: Check that C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 contains the NoteWarp.vst3 folder. Rescan plugins in your DAW.

Mac: Check /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 for VST3 or /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components for AU. If using Logic, look for NoteWarp in the MIDI FX slot, not the regular plugin slot.
